.The active ingredient of Reductil is sibutramine hydrochloride, which is a kind of anti-obesity medication.
How Reductil works?
Reductil works by blocking the nerve cells that absorb serotonin. This leads to the increase in serotonin levels in the blood. This leads to the feeling of fullness and thereby cuts down your food intake. So the person eats less and thereby reduces weight.
Reductil dosage
Reductil slimming tablets are available in the strength of 10 mg and 15 mg. For the start, a dose of 10 mg should be taken once daily with or without food. If patients do not lose 3 kg after 4 weeks, then the dose can be increased to 15 mg daily. If the patient still fails to lose 2 kg after 4 weeks, then the use of Reductil should be discontinued. Reductil should not be taken for more than 1 year.
Reductil precautions
Make your doctor aware of your medical history before you start the use of Reductil medication. Some people suffering from certain conditions shouldn’t take Reductil. They are as follows:
- If you are over 65 of age or under 18 years of age.
- If you are allergic to sibutramine.
- If you have liver or kidney problems.
- If you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
- If you are diabetic or heart patient.
In case of any of the above problems abstain from the intake of Reductil medication without talking to your doctor.
Reductil side-effects
Some side-effects of Reductil are fast heart rate, raised blood pressure, hot flushes, constipation, nausea, dry mouth, insomnia, headache, anxiety and sweating.
In case, you encounter any of these side- effects for a long period of time, then discontinue the use of Reductil and seek medical help.
